Clapp's father (Asa Clapp) married Lavina Flack (daughter of Elisha Flack). "I can remember visiting my grandparents [Elisha and Anna Boon Flack] who remember the slaves, who wore wooden shoes. I can also remember the boardwalk between the house and the kitchen ... Beyond the kitchen were two slave cabins, in one of which the old house-servant, "Aunt Chaney", lived. |
